Conference Invitation: University Cooperations with China – taking stock
Wednesday, 25 May 2011, 9.30 am–6 pm
PHTG, Unterer Schulweg 3, Kreuzlingen, Room P102
Cooperation between China and the industrialized western countries via public and private organisations seems to be a continuing recipe for success. The main partners, Europe and China, involved in this cooperation, are very much interested in exploring new and different means of collaboration. At the same time there is a continuing high proportion of Chinese guest students now being enrolled at European universities and colleges. The networks are getting stronger and considerable resources are now being invested in order to make the exchange as flourishing and productive as possible.
The important fundamentals for exchange projects were laid down in the 1990’s; now, twenty years on, we need to talk about a new phase of international cooperation in higher education. What are the new and continuing reasons to further develop cooperation in Higher Education between China and Europe and what would this cooperation involve?
The visit from a delegation of our partner university CNU in Beijing seems a good moment to ask these questions – and come to some provisional conclusions. At this conference cooperation in higher education with China will be discussed from a number of different perspectives. We will hear the points of view of the coordinators that manage the diverse exchange programmes with China at Swiss universities and colleges. In addition to this we will hear those of the DAAD, that maintains a branch in Beijing, as well as the voices of representatives of University of Constance and HWTG – both of which organisations are heavily involved in academic exchange with China.
The conference is held in three languages, German, English, Chinese, with translation. It is of particular interest to International Relation officers at universities in Switzerland and Baden-Württemberg and to all the people involved in academic cooperation with China.
