10.03.20 Visitors from Sweden as part of the European Staff Mobility Programme

Emil Tyberg and Therese Emrin Feltenstedt from the Linnaeus University in Southern Sweden visited the Thurgau University of Teacher Education as part of the European Staff Mobility Programme at the beginning of March.

Emil Tyberg teaches English didactics at the Linnaeus University in Southern Sweden and gave valuable inputs dealing with the topic of assessment while attending modules in the English department. The students highly appreciated the mixture of theory and practical examples taken from the Swedish EFL context. Thus, he very nicely supplemented the contents of the modules English Didactics and Modern Approaches at Teaching Foreign Languages. In addition to his teaching assignments, Emil Tyberg met all the members of the English Department for the first time to exchange experiences. Planning for closer collaboration in the area of English Didactics as well as further staff mobility are both underway.
For Therese Emrin Feltenstedt it was the first visit at the Thurgau University of Teacher Education. Her main interest was the organisation of work placements which is her responsibility at the Linnaeus University. As part of the long-standing cooperation, a contact with the two A-level colleges at the Campus Bildung in Kreuzlingen was established a couple of years ago. As a consequence, students of the Linnaeus University visit the A-level colleges to do 5-week internships on a regular basis. Thus, the two lecturers took advantage of their stay in Kreuzlingen to attend a lesson on site held by one of the Swedish students at the A-level college (Pädagogische Maturitätsschule Kreuzlingen).
As part of the collaboration with the Linnaeus University, students at the Thurgau University of Teacher Education can do either a voluntary internship in Sweden or the compact internship 2 for students training to work at secondary schools. These exchange possibilities were discussed thoroughly and both visitors encouraged students to apply. Students who are interested can always contact the International Office at the Thurgau University of Teacher Education.
